Indeed, all praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, seek refuge with Him, and seek His Forgiveness. And I testify that there is none worthy of being worshipped except Allah, and I testify that Muhammad (PBUH) is his servant and Messenger.
Since memorizing the Quran is the worship of the heart, the secret of its life, and the source of its power, it is a must for its seeker to come to know the manners related to it, and to strive his utmost to obtain these manners. Otherwise, he will be going in one direction, and his hard-work in another. Following are a collection of the manners that must be abided by:

1) Purify your intentions:
Your intention of memorizing Quran must be solely for seeking the pleasure of Allah.
“Indeed, actions are by intentions’ and for every person is what he intended.” (al-Bukhari)

2) Grit:
There is difference between grit and determination. Grit means to struggle more dedicatedly after every failure. Memorizing quran needs grit.

3) Understanding and Pondering:
When you start memorizing a verse try first to understand its meaning and ponder over it. This is greatly helpful in reducing your effort in memorizing and keeping verses in your mind.

4) Recite often:
Recite the verses you memorized often. A better way to recaptulate what you memorized is by reciting the verses in Salah. Make a schedule specifying which verses and how many will be recited in each salah.

5) Completely free your heart for the memorization and remove all obstacles. Ibn al Qayim (may Allah have mercy on him)  said:
“Getting what you want depends on cutting off habits and attachment to anything else.”

6) Recite to others:
Get a friend, a family member or someone you know who will listen to your recitation every day.

7) Start with short Surahs:
Start memorizing with short surahs that will bring you a big boost. Start from Surah Fathihah and then last fifteen surahs of the Quran.

8) Use multimedia:
If possible, use audio CDs or cassettes to listen renowed Qaris (Quran reciters). This will greatly help to recaptulate and review your progress.

9) Dua:
After every prayer pray Allah with sincerity to help you in achieving your goal. If your intentions are good He will certainly help you.
These few manners or rather tips will certainly help you memorizing the holy Quran.
You must strive very hard for the attainment of your goal.
